LRK has decades of experience in electricity, gas, and water regulatory and rate making matters, and can help industrial and commercial companies and municipalities work through major issues that specifically impact their business and governmental operations, such as rate case litigation, complaint cases, self supplier certifications, end use energy supply contracts, and transmission line certification and siting cases.
LRK has represented Industrial Customers and large institutional customers throughout Illinois through interventions in various matters before the Illinois Commerce Commission, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and in specific legislative actions since 1985. In 1996 LRK helped create the Illinois Industrial Energy Consumers (IIEC). IIEC is, and has been, a recognized identity used by an ad-hoc organization of Illinois industries which have joined forces from time to time to constitute a body of industrial consumers to participate in utility regulatory matters on state-wide generic issues and in specific utility territory rates cases and issues.
The nature of the proper representation of an industrial presence for Illinois industries in matters involving electric, natural gas and water service operations has become such that a constant, informed and participating industrial presence is required. Whether it be in front of the Illinois Commerce Commission, the Illinois Legislature or the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, IIEC has maintained an active presence and has fostered long standing relationships with regulatory peers for over 30 years.
